$10m Venom tournament returns to Americas Cardroom

Winner will take down at least $1m.

Americas Cardroom on Monday said it is bringing back its Venom tourney next month.

The tournament has a $10m guarantee and will start on January 21.

It is a multi-day tournament with four Day 1 options aimed at enticing players from all over the world to the US-facing online poker site.

The direct buy-in is $2,650. However, Americas Cardroom said in a statement players can get their seat for “just pennies” through Venom Blitz Satellites and Skip tourneys, or even for free through Step tourneys and freerolls.

There also will be hundreds of seats available for a fraction of the cost via Venom Fever and Mega Satellites, the cardroom added.

This will be the first Venom tourney with ACR’s new Staking feature available. The company said Staking allows players to buy a portion of another player’s tourney buy-in, getting them in the action without playing a single hand. Players can also choose to “get staked” and lower the cost and variance of playing in the Venom.

The final table is scheduled for February 2.

Officials for the poker site acknowledged the first version of Venom, held in August, “fell a little short” of that tournament’s $10m guarantee. They expressed optimism that, given the site’s player base continues to grow, and the number of inexpensive ways for people to qualify for a tournament entry, the final prize pool will push over the $10m mark.

“Poker Players whose New Year’s Resolution is to become a millionaire need to head to Americas Cardroom this January,” the company said in a statement.

Chris Moneymaker, Team Pro for Americas Cardroom, added: “Hosting a $10m guaranteed poker tournament is always a big deal, and we are thrilled to be doing it for a second time. Of course, it would not be possible without our expanding and loyal player base, and we are inviting everyone to take a shot at becoming our next millionaire.”

Americas Cardroom said it joined the Winning Poker Network in 2011. The Winning Poker Network, ACR noted, has been dealing cards since 2001.
