Indiana January sports betting revenue soars to $12.9m
Indiana sportsbooks earned a record $12.9m in January revenue, a jump of 7% month-on-month.
The Hoosier State’s sports wagering handle grew 6% to $171m, its highest on record.
Indiana sportsbooks have seen revenue and handle improve each month since the state launched sports betting in September 2019.
DraftKings and FanDuel dominated the market.
Ameristar Casino in East Chicago, Indiana set the bar with $6m in revenue despite handle falling slightly from the prior month.
The mobile DraftKings sportsbook at Ameristar earned $4.6m while retail accounted for the other $1.4m.
FanDuel’s mobile sportsbook at Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City brought in $2m.
Blue Chip’s retail operation took in another $280,000.
Caesars-operated Horseshoe Hammond took in $1.8m at its retail-only sportsbook.
The mobile BetRivers sportsbook at French Lick Resort earned $590,000.
Belterra Casino in Florence took a big hit by bringing in $57,000, a drop of 63% month-on-month despite handle holding steady.
Harrah’s Hoosier Park also suffered a tough January as revenue fell to $326,000, a decline of 25% from December.
Hoosier voters expectedly swooned to basketball wagering, which accounted for $60m of the monthly handle.
Parlay bets totaled $41m while another $37m was placed on football.
