Add another online sportsbook operator to the crowded Colorado market.
On Thursday during a meeting of the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission, the regulator approved bet365 for a temporary internet operator license.
The UK-based company applied for the sports betting license under the name Hillside (Colorado) LLC d/b/a bet365, according to the meeting agenda published online by the LGCC.
The five-member commission granted unanimous approval to bet365 with no call for public comment.
As is standard operating procedure in the Centennial State, bet365 was approved for a temporary license pending a background investigation.
The bet365 brand is licensed and regulated in multiple jurisdictions, including New Jersey, Great Britain, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Sweden, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Gibraltar and Australia. The company says it has multiple other license applications pending or in process.
The move into Colorado has been in the works since May 2020, when bet365 announced a partnership with Century Casinos, Inc.
Under terms of the 10-year agreement, bet365 became Century Casinos’ second internet sports betting operator partner in Colorado. Century Casinos obtained its master license with the State of Colorado through a subsidiary.
Century Casinos and bet365 agreed to operate an internet and mobile sports betting application under the bet365 brand.
The online sportsbook operations agreement with Century Casinos and bet365 includes a minimum annual revenue guarantee and a percentage share of net gaming revenue payable to Century Casinos each year, with an undisclosed advance fee being paid on contract signing.
The Colorado Gaming Control Commission now has issued licenses to 26 online and 17 terrestrial sportsbook operators. Also on the agenda for Thursday’s busy meeting was renewal of the retail and master license for Ameristar Casino Black Hawk LLC and four of its DBA entities: Ameristar Casino Black Hawk, Bally's Black Hawk North Casino, Bally's Black Hawk West Casino, and Bally's Black Hawk East Casino.
The LGCC also renewed the manufacturer/distributor licenses for Ameristar Casino Black Hawk d/b/a/ Ameristar Casino Black Hawk, Universal Gaming Resources LLC, and Bally’s Corporation f/k/a Twin River Worldwide Holdings, Inc.
