Paul Godfrey has been appointed to the role of Interim CEO at the gaming technology and content provider Bragg Gaming Group.
The Chair of the Board of Directors will take on the role effective immediately, with Bragg founder and former Interim CEO Adam Arviv taking on the role of Special Advisor.
Godfrey has a history in business leadership and Canadian politics, formerly holding positions such as the President and CEO of Postmedia Network and Publisher and CEO of Sun Media. He has also been the CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays and has received the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario.
“While the global online gaming industry continues to grow exponentially, the North American opportunity is a game-changer,” commented Godfrey.
“Bragg’s technology and content is well-positioned to take advantage of this new market's potential and although Bragg's operations have continued to outperform over recent quarters, the capital markets strategy has not translated into shareholder value. Developing this alignment will be our top priority and absolutely requires a strategic review.”
According to a statement released by the company’s board, this decision comes after a strategic review of the organization, which included the reconstruction of the CEO role. The statement added that Bragg’s public market performance is yet to reflect its financial growth, and thus, a new CEO is required.
Godfrey will take over the role from Richard Carter, who has led the business since his appointment in March.
