The announcement comes the day after online gambling became legal in the state.

Global technology payment platform Nuvei has secured the contract to process all sports betting and iGaming payments in the state of Connecticut. This announcement comes the day after online casinos and sports betting were made legal in the Constitution State. With their registration approved by the Connecticut Board of Consumer Protection, Nuvei will provide the digital infrastructure to support all online gambling transactions moving forward.

The announcement has been a long time coming. Online betting was officially legalized in the state in May 2021, but it took six months for the new law to go into effect. Unsurprisingly, this week has seen a flurry of licensing announcements.

With online betting activity commencing at two tribal casinos at 6am on October 19, Governor Ned Lamont struck an upbeat note: “This is an exciting moment for our state and our tribal partners. Connecticut has proven to be a leader when it comes to the gaming economy going back decades, and that legacy will continue with the launch of these new online options for all eligible residents.”

To many, the choice of Nuvei was a no-brainer. It is a proven payment provider which already has well known partnerships across the country with such industry stalwarts as 888 and SI Sportsbook, BetMGM, PrizePicks, Carousel Group, and Triplebet/Matchbet. Its wide-ranging capabilities include streamlined pay-ins through a variety of methods, a revenue optimization suite, ACH and the ability for alternative payments.

Nuvei prides itself on helping businesses grow, especially in fast-changing and rapidly developing industries such as online gambling. Seeking to integrate intelligence and technology in a seamless manner, the company is already active in over 200 markets and works in nearly 150 currencies.
