MaximBet has announced it will offer name, image and likeness (NIL) contracts to female college athletes in Colorado in the first such deal between a sports betting company and college athletes.
Female student athletes over the age of 21 at Division I, II and III schools in Colorado will be eligible to promote MaximBet’s brand in social media posts. MaximBet will pay female athletes $500 over four months.
Female athletes must follow the brand on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter and send a DM expressing interest to sponsor MaximBet on the social media platforms they prefer.
The two female athletes who generate the highest level of social engagement will receive four-figure bonuses on top of their cash payment, according to Forbes.
“We are part of the Colorado community, and we want our users to know that we support the team and athletes in their backyards,” said Doug Terfehr, VP of Brand and Communications, MaximBet. “We hope as many qualified young women who love playing for their college or university take advantage of this offer and recognize that we support them in everything they do.”
Forbes’ report on the partnership states that Colorado does not have a law prohibiting college athletes from signing NIL deals with sports betting companies, nor does it go against any individual university policy.
Schools began allowing student athletes to cash in on their name, image and likeness beginning in July, ending the NCAA’s longtime ban on NIL.
