PokerStars brings championship tournament to Pennsylvania

PokerStars and Fox Bet will host a Pennsylvania Championship of Online Poker (PACOOP) from November 30 to December 16 with $1m in guaranteed prizes.
The COOP includes 50 events, culminating in a two-day $300 Main Event beginning on 15
December, with a guaranteed prize poll of $100,000.

The tournaments range in poker games and buy-in levels, with most falling between $35 and $750.

Fox Bet President Matt Primeaux said: “ The Championship of Online Poker, or COOP, is one of our most prestigious events and we’re proud to give Pennsylvania its own.”

The online poker site began COOPs back in 2002 and has continued to host international
tournaments across the last two decades.

Only recently has PokerStars been able to hold tournaments in the US. It wrapped up a COOP in New Jersey last month.

PokerStars was the first operator to begin running online poker in Pennsylvania after the state gave the green light earlier this month.

The site held a two-day soft launch before commencing full operations.

Early numbers suggest Pennsylvania has a ready market for online poker.

Close to 1,000 users have participated in cash games at peak hours.

PokerStars saw 472 entries in its first Sunday Special that awarded a prize pool of more than $43,000.
