Indiana sportsbooks took in $91.7m in wagers in October, up 160% from September, with revenue totaling $11.5m, up 34%.

DraftKings, which launched its Indiana online sportsbook in early October, benefited with $39.3m of handle.

Indiana has taken advantage of surrounding states Illinois and Ohio delaying legal online sports betting.

Penn National’s Ameristar Casino partnered with DraftKings and saw $46.2m in handle, accounting for over half of the state’s monthly wagers.

Horseshoe Hammond took in the second largest handle at $10.7m.

A total of 45% of sports wagers were placed on football. Indiana is home to the professional Indianapolis Colts, as well as a handful of college football teams.

Parlays produced 22.5% of the statewide handle.

The Indiana sports betting scene is growing more crowded as FanDuel entered the mix in the last weeks of October.

FanDuel has partnered with Boyd Gaming’s Blue Chip and Belterra casinos.

The state brought in $1.1m of sports wagering tax in October.

Indiana set its sports wagering tax at 9.5% and is only applied to revenue earned after paying winning bets.

September marked Indiana’s first month of legal sports betting, though mobile sports wagering wasn’t launched until 4 October.
