Flutter Entertainment plc, 95% owner of FanDuel, has today announced that Amy Howe (pictured) will take on the role of interim CEO as the company searches to replace former CEO Matt King on a permanent basis.
Howe, who is already the company’s president, joined FanDuel in February 2021 from her position at Ticketmaster and Live Nation Entertainment. She will now be responsible for leading the gaming company’s commercial operations across all its departments. This includes sportsbook, casino, daily fantasy and racing.
Speaking on the appointment, Peter Jackson, Flutter’s chief executive, said: “Matt leaves the business in a position of strength and we wish him well for the future. The appointment of Amy, working alongside the wider FanDuel leadership team, will support the key focus on growing the business and retaining our No.1 position in the US market.”
Howe will also play a pivotal role in overseeing the betting company’s marketing, legal, regulatory and compliance units.
Howe added: “Together with our talented leadership team and organization, I am focused on continuing the momentum we have built across the business. I am confident that our unique advantages in product innovation, marketing, operational excellence, and wide market access will allow us to flourish as online gaming grows across the US.”
While Howe held the title of COO of Ticketmaster, the company saw a 400% increase in their apps user base as well as a doubling of their growth in gross ticketing value.
The Telegraph today reported that Flutter Entertainment’s plans to launch the betting service for public trading on the Nasdaq have been postponed until next year. This decision reportedly came as the company is in disagreements with Fox Corp over the rights to FanDuel.
This disagreement has arisen after Fox aided Flutter in their $4.2bn purchase of the sportsbook.
