Voters in Manchester, the most populous city in the state, as well as Somersworth, Berlin, Claremont and Laconia all voted in favor of a proposition to back local sports gambling.
In four other cities, Dover, Rochester, Concord and Nashua, the proposition was voted down.
Voters in Franklin already authorized sports betting last month.
The New Hampshire Lottery will permit 10 physical sportsbook locations and up to five online sportsbooks.
Third-party vendors will decide where to operate physical sportsbooks in the state.
Last week, the New Hampshire Lottery announced partnerships with DraftKings to supply online gambling services and Intralot to supply vending machines at retail outlets.
State officials intend to launch sports betting by early next year.
Bettors will be prohibited from wagering on New Hampshire college teams or any college games taking place within the state.
New Hampshire approved the online bingo game keno in 2017. In two years, more than 80 communities have authorized keno, with sales totaling over $46m since it was brought to the state.
