The Genting Brand-developed property is expected to bring increased traffic to the north end of the Strip, which had received little investment in prior years.
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak and US Rep. Dina Titus were among the notable guests in attendance for the formal celebration.
Outside, several hundred people were greeted with a firework show and a block party DJ’d by socialite Paris Hilton. People began lining up around Resorts World in the late evening and most didn’t get inside until midnight or later.
Visitors immediately flocked to the casino floor, bars and restaurants and shopping outlets. Table games and slots were packed to the brim well into the early hours of the morning.
“We are excited to finally be able to present this resort to the world and officially welcome guests to experience our exceptional amenities firsthand,” said Scott Sibella, President of Resorts World Las Vegas. “We are grateful for all of the support we received during our opening and truly hope our community and visitors enjoy all of the hard work that went into creating this incredible property."
Several gaming dignitaries were spotted on opening night, including Circa Resort & Casino owner Derek Stevens. Resorts World joins Circa as the second major Las Vegas casino-resort to open in the past nine months.
Resorts World offers 3.500 guest rooms from three Hilton brand hotels. Its 117,000 square foot casino includes 1,400 slots and 117 table games.
The $4.3bn casino-resort has more than 40 bars and restaurants, a 5,000-seat capacity concert and entertainment venue, and approximately 70,000 square feet of dedicated retail space.
