Kindred Group’s US brand has been given a permit which gives it direct market access to mobile sports betting in Virginia.

The permit from the Virginia Lottery has been handed out to Unibet Interactive, the US brand of Kindred Group. The operator can now add Virginia to its list of successful entries in the growing US gambling market.

Unibet will now be able to offer Virginia customers its online sportsbook offering and build on its expansion in the US. Previously, it had successful launches in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Indiana, and has signed agreements with another eight states.

Now Virginia will be part of Unibet’s and Kindred Group’s American expansion, allowing further growth on the East Coast.

As one of the largest states in the US market, Virginia’s mobile sports betting is expected to grow to $370m in annual revenues.

Kindred Group’s SVP US, Manuel Stan, said: “We are excited to add Virginia to the growing list of states Unibet and Kindred Group call home as we continue our expansion in the US market. Our aim is to go live shortly, and we expect the success we have seen in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Indiana will of course follow in Virginia

“We are very grateful to the Virginia Lottery for awarding us one of the seven stand-alone mobile sports betting permits in a very competitive process.

“We look forward to opening an office in Virginia, which will function as our third hub together with our offices in New York and New Jersey. We are thrilled to continue our journey in what we believe will become the largest gambling market in the world."

The group has said it will continue investing and growing its American operations, since market conditions support a sustainable business model.
