Argentina state regulator appoints first Vice President of Cibelae for 2025/ 27
The Ibero-American association of public gaming authorities from Latin America, Spain and Portugal strengthens Alea’s role in regional cooperation.
Argentina’s Association of State Lotteries, Pools and Casinos (Alea) has been elected its first Vice President of the Ibero-American Corporation of State Lotteries and Betting (Cibelae) for the 2025/ 27 term.
The appointment, made during Cibelae’s Annual Ordinary Assembly held on November 11 in Asunción, Paraguay, positions Alea as a leading voice for regulated and socially responsible gaming across Ibero-America.
Ida López, President of Alea, said, “This new role honors us and challenges us to continue strengthening a federal, national and regional effort, the fight against illegality and the promotion of transparent and responsible gaming.”
The recognition reflects the role of Argentina’s state lotteries in developing a regulated and transparent gaming industry based on cooperation and best practices.
Following the assembly, the 19th Congress on Lottery Products & Sports Betting is taking place in Asunción, bringing together regulators, operators and suppliers from across the region.
Alea representatives are participating in several thematic panels. López is presenting on the sports betting landscape in Latin America, while Santiago Schunk of IAFAS is discussing lottery product development and moderating sessions on point-of-sale evolution and regional lottery products. Carlos Moyano from IAFAS Entre Ríos is also taking part in the point-of-sale panel.
Meanwhile, Teresita Benítez from IAS Formosa, Carolina Galtieri from LOTBA and Schunk are speaking on integration and the strengthening of Ibero-American lotteries through standards and best practices for secure, legal and sustainable gaming. Édgar Pérez from IAS Formosa is addressing the topic “Lotteries in Action,” and Benítez is moderating a panel on digitalization and product innovation within the lottery sector.
