New Jersey DGE fines Super Group over $112,000 for self-exclusion penalties

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has issued a $112,188 civil penalty against Digital Gaming Corporation (DGC), which operates Super Group throughout the state, for failing to adequately adhere to the state’s self-exclusion regulations.
“From March 2024 through January 2025, DGC failed to timely add self-excluded individuals to the Division’s Self-Exclusion List. Of those not added, multiple patrons, who should have been self excluded, were able to wager on other internet gaming and sports wagering platforms after their self exclusion date,” DGE Interim Director Mary Jo Flaherty said.
“These incidents reflect failures in DGC’s internal controls and compliance procedures and constitute violations of the above referenced statutes and regulations. Such failures are contrary to the policies of the Casino Control Act…and therefore are impermissible.”
The New Jersey regulator also found DGC failed to properly add self-excluded individuals to the state’s self-exclusion list and allowed players to exceed their self-imposed deposit limits.
DGC must also rescind $5,278 for the winnings claimed by self-excluded individuals, having made the decision to phase out Super Group’s US operations in July 2025. Super Group currently serves as the operator of Jackpot City and Spin Casino, also choosing to conclude iGaming operations in the US earlier this year.
The DGE stated the monetary penalty is the only enforcement being handed down to DGC at the time of writing, but will take further disciplinary action should additional violations be found.
The regulator issued a new proposal which would require online gambling operators to follow a mandatory set of responsible gaming practices on September 16, such as automatically reviewing accounts that alert certain precautionary triggers.
