Fluminense and Superbet host breast cancer awareness event
The initiative celebrated women in treatment and remission with a full day of experiences in two stadiums.
Brazilian soccer team Fluminense and its betting partner Superbet organized an event in honour of Pink October, the international month dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer prevention.
In the initiative, that has happened on Thursday, October 16th, both the team and Superbet dedicated a full day to 19 women currently undergoing treatment or in remission from breast cancer.
The tribute combined guided tours and a match experience to celebrate their resilience and raise awareness for the cancer’s early detection.
Their day began at the club’s home neighborhood in Laranjeiras, where the guests had a guided tour of the Fluminense Museum and the Manoel Schwartz Stadium.
They learned about the club’s legacy and headed to the Maracanã Stadium, the biggest in Rio, for the second part of the experience.
Once at the stadium, participants took part in the Match Day experience, visiting the locker rooms, benches, press area and greeting players upon their arrival.
They then watched Fluminense’s victory over Juventude in the Brazilian Championship from Superbet’s VIP suite.
The event concluded with the club president, Mário Bittencourt, presenting each guest with the team’s limited-edition pink shirt and a tricolor scarf with the team’s colors.
Bittencourt also shared an emotional speech about his personal connection to the cause as he has lost both his mother and grandmother to breast cancer.
“This is a cause that deeply moves us,” he said. “Our greatest duty is to raise awareness and care for one another. Seeing these women happy makes me proud and I thank Superbet for embracing the causes Fluminense stands for.”
