Vermont sports wagering revenue falls 29.6% for September 2025

The state of Vermont has released its sports wagering results for September 2025.
In total, handle came to $20m, with Vermonters earning back $18.5m in winnings. As such, gross sports wagering revenue came to $1.5m, with Vermont’s revenue share at 31.7%, or $461,912.
Handle was up 19.8% year-over-year, however, this was outperformed by the growth of player winnings, up 28.5%. As such, adjusted gross sports revenue was down 29.6%, with September 2024 seeing the state take a $656,455 share.
Looking at handle by sport, football remained on top, with $6.9m in handle, up 0.3% year-over-year. This was followed by baseball at $2.5m, up 13%, with tennis in third, outperforming soccer, making $1.4m and $1.2m, respectively.

Interestingly, the fifth highest handle sport in September was e-basketball, dethroning table tennis, which held the spot last year. It reported $1.1m in handle. All other sports reported a combined handle of $6.8m, almost double the $3.9m reported this time last year.
Of the $20.3m handle, $14.9m was bet in-state, while $5.2m was bet out-of-state.
Handle was also up greatly month-on-month, with August reporting handle of $13.5m. However, adjusted gross sports revenue was down slightly, with August earnings totaling $1.6m.
However, September’s results do outperform those of July, which saw handle of $14.8m and adjusted gross sports revenue of $1.3m.
