PGCB reports second-highest monthly gaming revenue of 2025, totaling $582.3m for August

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has reported the state’s total gaming revenue for August 2025, having increased by 14.2% from the prior year period to $582.3m, which also represents the second-highest monthly total generated by residents throughout 2025.
The record $601.8m was recorded in May 2025, and is still the only month in which Pennsylvania residents eclipsed $600m in total gaming revenue. The August 2025 figure was primarily generated by retail slots, which accounted for $216.6m and rose 2.6%. iGaming slots was a close second to its retail counterpart, generating $179.3m for an increase of 29.6%.
Following iGaming slots in most revenue generated for August 2025 were retail table games, which rose 0.1% for a total of $81.1m, while iGaming table games accounted for an additional $49.4m and increased 14.4% year-over-year. VGTs were the only gaming type to have witnessed a decrease in revenue year-over-year, reporting an August 2025 total of nearly $3.6m and falling 2.4%.
Sports wagering
Sports wagering also managed to increase its revenue from the prior year period, rising 63.8% to nearly $49.2m and primarily generated by Valley Forge Casino Resort which reported an August 2025 sports wagering revenue of $18.8m and grew 40.6%.
Hollywood Casino at the Meadows was the only fellow sports wagering facility in Pennsylvania to eclipse $10m in sports wagering revenue for August 2025, reporting $12.3m for an increase of 57.9%. The total handle generated by Pennsylvania bettors was reported to be $515.4m by the PGCB, representing an increase of 6.2%.
Casino revenue
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course achieved the highest revenue of all properties which report to the PGCB, producing just over $101.3m and increasing 15.5%. Valley Forge Casino Resort finished close behind with $98.7m in total gaming revenue for August 2025, rising 39.3%, while Parx Casino and Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated an additional $58.2m and $57m, respectively, for increases of 8.5% and 12.2%.
Wind Creek Bethlehem reported just under $50.1m of gaming revenue for the monthly period and increased 1.4%, as Rivers Casino Pittsburgh witnessed a decrease in gaming revenue of 0.1% to $30.5m.
Retail games
Parx Casino recorded the highest retail slot revenue of any Pennsylvania property, generating $33.4m for an increase of 2.6%, while Wind Creek Bethlehem managed to produce a retail slot revenue of $24.9m, but fell 1.3% year-over-year. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and Mohegan Pennsylvania reported August 2025 retail slot revenues of $22.3m and $15.9m, respectively, rising by 1% and 1.9%.

For table games, Wind Creek Bethlehem generated the highest revenue of any property across the gaming type, reporting $23m for growth of 2.4%, while Parx Casino managed to rise by 16.3% for a total of $18.2m. Live! Casino Philadelphia and Rivers Casino Philadelphia witnessed table game revenue decreases of 24.4% and 10.8%, respectively, producing $7.5m and $6.9m throughout August 2025.
iGaming
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course reported an August 2025 iGaming revenue of $85.5m, representing an increase of 18.5% and the highest total of any facility. Valley Forge Casino Resort generated nearly $67.6m of iGaming revenue for August 2025, rising 47.1% year-over-year, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia accounted for $36.6m and increased 18.5%.
On September 3, the PGCB issued a public warning regarding the dangers of participating with an unauthorized or illegal betting site due to the “increased amount of sports wagering” witnessed throughout the NFL season.
Pennsylvania currently authorizes 12 betting sites for eligible residents, all of which operate under “strict regulation” from the PGCB and offer problem gambling tools to help individuals from forming a “destructive habit.”
