The New York Community Advisory Committee (CAC) held its second and final public hearing to discuss the Caesars Entertainment proposal for a casino to be built in Times Square, potentially creating new jobs and “millions” in community investments for the city.
Opposition to the project raised concerns over potential crime being brought to Times Square and Broadway as a result of the facility, as well as whether a new casino would alter its well-known culture.
Those opposed to the Caesars proposal carried signs which read “No Times Square Casino” throughout the public hearing on September 11, while Broadway workers, union members, small business owners and local residents created a march to rally in support of the project.
The CAC will offer an official vote on September 30, having also held a public hearing for New York Mets Owner Steve Cohen and Hard Rock International’s Metropolitan Park project on September 9.

Caesars Palace Times Square partnered with Reverend Al Sharpton and Cadre Founder Ryan Williams to pursue an inclusive ownership model for the hotel casino bid on June 25, including opportunities starting as low as $500.
This partnership was said to build upon Caesars Entertainment’s commitment to “supporting the wellbeing of people and the communities in which they operate,” as the proposal for a Times Square property was originally put forward with SL Green Realty Corporation and Roc Nation.
