The Culinary Union in Las Vegas, Nevada will host a Labor Day Rally on September 1 at The Sphere entertainment complex to celebrate its 90th anniversary and support 700 workers who are currently negotiating the first-ever union contract with the facility.
“This year, the Culinary Union is celebrating its 90th anniversary and a proud legacy of fighting and winning for working families in Nevada. For nearly a century, our union has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with workers, transforming Nevada’s largest industry into one where hospitality workers have strong contracts, fair wages and respect on the job,” Culinary Union Secretary-Treasurer Ted Pappageorge said.
“Generations of workers sacrificed and organized to win the union difference. Our history proves that when workers are united, we win. We’ve built real power for the working class in Nevada and we are proud to carry forward the militant rank-and-file organizing and direct action that built our union. We will keep fighting and winning for working families across the state.”
The Rally will officially begin at 5:30pm local time, as the Culinary Union also stated Las Vegas has hit a “Trump Slump” of decreased tourism from Canada and Mexico due to “economic uncertainty driven by tariffs, wild threats of annexation, mass deportation that separates families and anti-worker policies.”

“At a time when the labor movement is under attack and working families are facing skyrocketing prices for housing, gas, groceries and insurance, Nevada’s unions are standing together to fight back against reckless policies from this administration that benefit billionaires while workers pay the price,” the Culinary Union said.
“The labor movement is united to push back, organize and to keep growing stronger. This Labor Day, we celebrate the power we’ve built and remain committed to keep fighting. Together, we will win a better future for working families in Nevada.”
Pappageorge, Union President Diana Valles and multiple fellow labor organizations will be in attendance for the Labor Day Rally.
