Colombia: Coljuegos reports COP 884m in healthcare transfers for H1 2025

Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of Coljuegos, Colombia’s gaming regulator, presented first-half figures on the sector’s contributions during the National Congress of Lotteries and Distributors.
He reported that the country’s national and territorial gaming sector transferred a total of COP 884m ($221m) to the subsidized healthcare system.
Of the total, COP 566.5m was generated by national games, such as localized, innovative, raffle and promotional products, operated under concession by Coljuegos. This marked a 26.9% increase over the first half of 2024.
During the event, which started on August 20 and will continue until the 23 in Pereira, it was also highlighted that territorial games, including chance, lotteries and Raspa&Listo, contributed COP 317.3m in transfers, up 7% from the same period in 2024.
Hincapié said, “Lottery performance remains steady. Despite the challenges of technological transformation, the sector recorded a 5 percent increase in sales compared to January–June of last year.
“Bogotá, Huila, and the Sorteo Extraordinario de Colombia were the lotteries that showed the largest increases in healthcare contributions during the first half of the year. In addition, the lotteries of Boyacá and Medellín paid out the highest amounts in prizes to players.”

As part of the Congress, Coljuegos recognized the contributions of various lotteries, including long-standing operators and those with notable sales, prize payouts, or healthcare contributions. A special tribute was also given to the Lotería de la Cruz Roja for its 110-year history and support for healthcare.
Bibiana Garcés González, General Manager of the Lotería de Risaralda and host of the Congress, said, “This event is designed to address the various challenges we face. We are proud to welcome entities such as Coljuegos and the National Council of Games of Chance, as well as the managers and distributors across the country who work every day to increase contributions to healthcare.”
