Maryland casino revenue falls 2.5% year-over-year for July 2025

Maryland Lottery and Gaming has reported the state’s casino activity throughout July 2025, as revenue decreased 2.5% from the prior year period for a total of $165.7m, primarily generated by MGM National Harbor which accounted for $68.6m of revenue but fell 4.7% year-over-year.
Maryland’s six privately owned casinos offer both slot machines and table games including MGM National Harbor, Live! Casino & Hotel, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, Ocean Downs Casino, Hollywood Casino Perryville and Rocky Gap Casino Resort.
The facilities also managed to contribute nearly $71.9m to the state’s Education Trust Fund, as well as the communities and jurisdictions where the casinos are located, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and small, minority- and women-owned businesses. The total represents a 0.4% decrease from the prior year period, while the $51.7m donated to the Education Trust Fund equates to a fall of 0.5% year-over-year.
Live! Casino & Hotel managed to generate just over $59.7m of revenue for July 2025, but still witnessed a decrease of 4.6% from the prior year period. Each of the four remaining casinos reported increases year-over-year, including Horseshoe Casino Baltimore which saw its revenue rise by 8.2% to $14.4m for July 2025.
Good to know: Maryland Lottery and Gaming reported the state’s sports wagering activity throughout June 2025 on July 10, as operators generated a total handle of $403.8m between retail and mobile betting, equating to an increase of 5% from the prior year period
Ocean Downs Casino and Hollywood Casino Perryville accounted for $10.2m and $7.6m of revenue, respectively, for all properties in Maryland, representing increases of 6.4% and 4.5% year-over-year. Finally, Rocky Gap Casino Resort reported a July 2025 revenue of nearly $5.1m, rising by 1.1% from the prior year period.
Table games generated just over $47.4m throughout July 2025, while video lottery terminals (VLTs) produced the remaining $118.2m for the month.
