New York casino revenue decreases 2.2% in June 2025, online betting handle falls under $2bn

The New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) has reported the state’s casino and online sports betting results for June 2025, as casino revenue fell 2.2% from the prior year period to $55.1m, while online sportsbook operators recorded $206.5m in gross gaming revenue (GGR) throughout the period.
Online sportsbooks reported a June 2025 handle of $1.6bn, the lowest-recorded since August 2024, but still manages to equate to a 12% increase year-over-year, while the $161.8m in online wagering GGR represents growth of 54.2% from the prior year period. Operators contributed nearly $101.2m to the platform providers, as well as an additional $105.3m to New York education funds.
Despite DraftKings having taken in a higher handle than FanDuel throughout the month, the Flutter Entertainment-owned sportsbook still reported the highest GGR of any operator for June 2025, taking in $86.3m from a handle of $563.7m. DraftKings took in $607m worth of bets throughout the month, but only witnessed a June 2025 GGR of $69.8m.
Fanatics Betting and Gaming led the remaining operators with a June 2025 GGR of $17.3m as well as a handle of $151.7m for the month, which Caesars sportsbook managed to eclipse with a handle of $152.3m but failed to generate a similar GGR after recording $13.8m for June 2025.
In terms of retail casino play, slot handle for June 2025 was similar to that of the prior year period, showing no percentage change as properties took in $526.7m worth of credits. Slot GGR also managed to increase by $700k year-over-year, bringing in nearly $41.8m throughout the month.

Table games managed to generate just over $69.4m worth of credits in June 2025, representing a decrease of 9.1% year-over-year, while GGR for the offering was reported to be $11.8m throughout the month, falling by 16.8% from the prior year period. Poker tables produced nearly $862k in GGR for June 2025, while retail sports betting generated a handle of $3.8m and a GGR of $677.4k throughout the month.
Retail casinos located in New York paid just under $13.9m of gaming tax to the state in June 2025, and managed to bring in $41.3m in net revenue for the period, equating to a 3% decrease when compared to June 2024.
Lawmakers in New York recently passed legislation which looks to outlaw sweepstakes casinos within the state, and are still awaiting final bids for a land-based casino complex to be approved in the near future.
