MGM Resorts International subsidiary MGM Yonkers Inc. has sent the New York Gaming Commission and Gaming Facility Location Board a casino license application.
In addition to the license application, MGM Yonkers has included a $2.3bn proposal that would create a commercial casino and entertainment facility in its Empire City Casino space.

The site updates would include a full renovation, along with expansion to existing gaming areas at the property. MGM Yonkers also plans to add a BetMGM Sportsbook and high-limit lounge.
The plans also come with a maximum capacity entertainment venue that would seat 5,000 and a meeting space for community needs, local graduations and special events.
MGM Resorts International President and CEO Bill Hornbuckle said, “Empire City Casino and Yonkers Raceway have anchored the entertainment and tourism culture in downstate New York for more than a century.
“Achieving a full casino license will ensure this site will continue to be a cultural and economic force for generations to come.”
