Michigan iGaming revenue grows 25.9% year-over-year for May 2025

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported the state’s iGaming and online sports wagering revenue for May 2025, including a total figure of $301.4m, representing an increase of 25.9% from the prior year period. 

The revenue generated throughout May 2025 also equates to 3.7% growth month-over-month, despite the online sports betting handle having fallen by 7.6% from the figure reported for April 2025. 

Michigan bettors wagered $386.1m throughout the period, representing an increase of 12.3% from the prior year period. 

For adjusted gross revenue (AGR) reported by the MGCB, iGaming operators accounted for $236.2m of revenue for May 2025, while online sports betting generated the remaining $35.6m, equating to increases of 32.2% and 26.6% year-over-year, respectively. 

Michigan’s commercial and Tribal iGaming operators submitted $51.1m in taxes throughout May 2025, of which $49.1m was produced from iGaming. Detroit’s three commercial casinos also reported nearly $13.4m in wagering taxes and municipal services fees paid to the city of Detroit for the period.

As of May 2025, 15 commercial and Tribal operators have been authorized to offer iGaming and/or internet sports betting to eligible Michigan residents. 

Throughout May 2025, iGaming operators managed to generate monthly gross receipts of $248.1m, while online sports betting produced just under $50m for a total revenue increase of 3.7% month-over-month.
