Wyoming Gaming Commission issues warning on illegal iGaming operators

The Wyoming Gaming Commission has issued a direct warning to residents and visitors regarding illegal iGaming operators that may be conducting business without proper licensing or regulation. The Commission emphasized that such online casinos, poker rooms and other forms of iGaming are illegal in the state and not licensed or regulated by Wyoming authorities. 

“We want to make it unequivocally clear: no online casino, iGaming or sweepstakes site is licensed by the Wyoming Gaming Commission, and they are all operating illegally in Wyoming. We strongly encourage everyone to avoid these websites, however, patrons who choose to engage with these unlicensed platforms do so at their own risk,” Wyoming Gaming Commission Executive Director Nicholas Larramendy said. 

“The Wyoming Gaming Commission cannot provide assistance or intervention in cases of disputes regarding winnings, or other account issues arising from participation in illegal iGaming. Again, because most of these operations are based outside of the United States, enforcement of local laws becomes difficult. The Wyoming Gaming Commission will do our best to attempt to shut down the operation in our state when we become aware of an illegal operation.”

Despite the legality of online sports wagering and fantasy sports in Wyoming, online casino games like slots, blackjack and roulette for real money remain strictly prohibited under current legislation. 

Good to know: Florida House Bill 1467 and Senate Bill 1404, which would have criminalized and expanded government control over sweepstakes gaming, officially failed to pass through the state’s legislation on May 5

Examples of such platforms may include, but are not limited to, certain sweepstakes or social casino sites that offer real-money payouts, or direct online casino platforms operating without a state license according to the Wyoming Gaming Commission. 

The Commission also requested the public exercise “extreme caution” when encountering online gambling advertisements or platforms claiming to offer casino games throughout Wyoming.
