Cheryl Kondra joins Accel Entertainment as new Board member

The Caesars veteran has been appointed as Chair of the Board’s Audit Committee.

Gaming solutions provider Accel Entertainment has announced the appointment of Cheryl Kondra as the new Chair of the Board of Director’s (BOD) Audit Committee.
Indeed, Kondra brings over20 years of industry experience to the Board, including 17 years with Caesars Entertainement – seven of which were spent as a Vice president and Chief Audit Executive. Following on from this, Kondra has been a VP of Internal Audit at companies both in and outside of the gaming industry, alongside being a member of the board at Galaxy Gaming since 2021.
As part of her new role on the Accel BOD, she will help to manage internal audit functionality while assisting in the development and implementation of the organization’s internal audit program. More specifically, Kondra will assist in the conducting of internal evaluations to identify areas of improvement for the company. As per this latest news, it has also been revealed that Eden Godsoe will not be standing for re-election and instead ending her tenure with the company’s board.
Speaking on her appointment, Kondra stated, “I look forward to joining the Accel Board and leaning on my decades of experience working for multi-jurisdictional public gaming companies. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to help guide Accel’s strategic growth and continue building on its strong track record of innovation and compliance in a complex regulatory landscape.”
Also commenting was Chairman of the Accel Board, Karl Peterson, who said, “We are incredibly grateful for Eden’s exceptional leadership and her many contributions during her time on the Board. Her insights, efforts, and dedication have been instrumental in guiding the company through key milestones, including our transition to a public company. Kondra’s appointment comes following the announcement that Mark Phelan would be joining as President of US Gaming in 2023. More recently, in November, the company expanded its operations into the Louisiana state market, following its 85% ownership interest acquisition of local operators Toucan Gaming and LSM Gaming for approximately $40m.
Further, Accel also officially closed the acquisition of Fairmount Holdings, FanDuel sportsbook and racetrack Collinsville owner, in December, for a total fee of $35m.
