Michigan sets new monthly record in iGaming revenue with $248.2m during January 2025

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported the state’s iGaming and sports betting results during January 2025, including a new monthly record for iGaming revenue with $248.2m having been generated throughout the month, representing an increase of 36.5% year-over-year.
The total revenue from iGaming and sports betting was reported to be $331.2m from commercial and Tribal operators, representing an increase of 44.3% from the prior year period. The increase was generated in spite of the fact that Michigan’s overall internet sports betting handle decreased by 3.8% year-over-year for a total of $555.2m.
As of January 2025, a total of 15 commercial and tribal operators have been authorized to launch iGaming and/or internet sports betting. Currently, 12 commercial and tribal operators offer internet sports betting and 15 operators offer iGaming.
While iGaming produced $248.2m throughout January 2025, sports betting still accounted for $83m of the total revenue reported during the month, representing an increase of 74% from the prior year period. The previous record for monthly iGaming revenue was set during December 2024, when the MGCB reported that Michigan generated $244m throughout the period.

The total iGaming and internet sports betting adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for January 2025 was reported to be $287.9m, with iGaming AGR having increased by 42% year-over-year and sports betting rising by over $35m from the prior year period.
Tribal operators reported making $5m in payments to governing bodies during the month, while iGaming contributed $43.7m in taxes and payments to the state of Michigan, with sports betting having accounted for the remaining $3.1m.
