Detroit Pistons were most wagered-on NBA team as sports betting goes live.

Rush Street Interactive, Inc., on Monday said the company’s BetRivers brand did well in its first weekend of operations in Michigan.

Last week, the Michigan Gaming Control Board approved nine gaming operators to launch in the state at 12 noon local time on 22 January, including RSI.

Richard Schwartz, president of RSI’s BetRivers.com, said the opening of the Michigan market was a “momentous and memorable occasion for the company, as well as, for the state and its economy.”

“We are incredibly excited to be off to a strong start in Michigan,” Schwartz said in a statement. “We are thrilled to see our BetRivers.com site live in the booming Michigan market, and this first weekend proved to us that there is a huge appetite for online casino and sports betting.”

RSI offered several highlights of its first weekend taking legal wagers in the Wolverine State including over 120 casino games were available on launch day, table games brought in 39% of total casino handle, the NFC Championship Game was the most wagered on event in the state followed by the AFC Championship Game, and the Pistons were the most wagered-on NBA team, followed closely by the Phoenix Suns.

“Feedback from our new Michigan customers has been fantastic,” Schwartz added.
