Macau has released its revenue figures for November 2024, highlighting a revenue figure of MOP 18.4bn, up 14.9% year-over-year.
These latest results bring Macau’s cumulative GGR figure for the year so far up to MOP 209bn, 26.8% higher than the figure posted by the region 12 months prior. As highlighted by these latest figures, Macau has now already surpassed its FY23 revenue figures with the month of December still to be added to its FY24 total.
Indeed, cumulative gross revenue for the year so far is 26.8% higher year-over-year. However, despite monthly figures continuing to rise, the rate of acceleration has begun to slow down in comparison to figures from earlier this year – with January and February displaying yearly revenue rises of 67% and 79% respectively. Nevertheless, reports of both a monthly and yearly revenue rise for the month of November will come as a welcome sight to local operators as the region continues to make its recovery from the pandemic.
Good to know: November GGR figures also decreased in comparison to the results from October 2024 by a marginal 11.7%.
It has been a busy year in Macau so far, with the jurisdiction climbing back towards its full strength, a number of new laws have also been put into place in an attempt to curb the recent rise in organized, gaming-related crime.
In September, the government announced that it had blocked 36,000 illegal gambling sites in the first half of 2024. More recently, in October, Macau passed a new illegal gaming law with tighter restrictions. Also in October, Sam Hou Fai was appointed as the first Chief Executive of Macau born in mainland China.
