Illinois sports betting handle reaches $1.31bn for September

The Illinois Gaming Board has released financial figures for sports betting activity in the state for the month of September.
Total handle during the month reached $1.31bn, which represented an increase of around 21% year-over-year and about 49% higher than the figure recorded in August’s report.
Looking at adjusted gross revenue (AGR), the total statewide figure was valued at $136.4m, which means there was about a 58% rise compared to September 2023 and around a 130% jump compared with August 2024.
In-person wagering AGR accounted for $3.9m of the total figure, while the vast amount came from online wagering, which accounted for $132.6m.
The majority of the total statewide AGR came from Fairmount Park at $53.7m, which is operated by FanDuel, followed by Casino Queen at $47.7m, which is operated by DraftKings and. with the third-highest figure, Hawthorne Race Course at $10.6m is operated by Fanatics.

Last week, the Illinois Gaming Board released the state’s financial figures for casinos in the Prairie State for October, with adjusted gross receipts during the month reaching $136.7m from slots and table games. Slot machines brought in $104m while table games contributed nearly $32.7m.
In other sports betting results news, the Kansas Lottery last week released figures for the Sunflower State’s sports betting results in October. Players wagered more than $275.9m, with retail sports betting bringing in nearly $9.6m of the total handle, with the remaining $266.3m coming from online.
