Operator bet365 shares insight into US Election from trading floor

The final day to vote for US residents is November 5, with open voting hours determined by location.
Key Points
- bet365 currently projects Rep. candidate President Donald Trump at -175 odds, while Dem. nominee Kamala Harris is listed at +150
- The operator reported that President Trump’s win in 2016 left bet365 out of pocket by over £4m ($5.2m)
Operator bet365’s Steve Freeth has provided insight into the US Election from the trading floor, reporting that Rep. candidate President Donald Trump is the current favorite on the operator’s site.
President Trump is listed with -175 odds to win the Election and return to Presidency after losing the 2020 Election to President Joe Biden. Dem. candidate Kamala Harris, who took over the Biden-Harris campaign after President Biden stepped down this summer, is listed at +150 as a close underdog.
“We look to be in decent shape with a good book going into the final furlong, but history tells us to never count our chickens in the US presidential race,” Freeth said.
While Freeth reports a stable level of confidence for the operator, the 2016 US Presidential Election ended up leaving bet365 out of pocket by over $5.2m. President Trump was an underdog heading into the final day of voting, but overcame the odds after claiming the Presidency over Dem. nominee Hillary Clinton.
“In 2016 we were also sitting pretty before Donald Trump came with a wet sail to win leaving us out of pocket by over £4m. That liability still gets mentioned in the office to this day with some thinking he just couldn’t win!” Freeth said.

Freeth also detailed how the race has grown much closer than the odds reflected over the summer, as Harris had been listed as far back as +6600 when it was first reported she would be stepping in for President Biden.
“Kamala Harris was as big as +6600 in June while Trump’s biggest price was +800 back in 2021, but we’re seeing great two-way trade now in what’s an extremely busy betting heat,” Freeth said.
“He can certainly win again but with the odds dramatically shorter, we’ll be hoping for a better book when the dust settles this time around.”
The final day to vote for US residents is November 5, as voting hours will vary based on location.
