Murphy Law Firm investigates Riverside Resort & Casino cybersecurity breach
The firm is looking into possible legal recourse for those affected.
Murphy Law Firm has provided an update regarding its investigation into a data breach that involved Riverside Resort & Casino.
The firm is currently looking into claims “on behalf of all individuals whose personal and confidential information was compromised” and “is evaluating legal options, including a potential class action lawsuit, to recover damages on behalf of individuals who were affected by the data breach.”

The casino first discovered “detected suspicious activity,” which included a data breach on its computer network at the end of July.
According to the firm’s investigation, names and social security numbers were part of the information exposed during the breach.
Murphy Law Firm elaborated further in a statement by saying, “Based on a subsequent forensic investigation, Riverside Resort & Casino determined that cybercriminals infiltrated its inadequately secured computer systems and thereby gained access to its data files.
“Riverside Resort & Casio’s investigation further determined that, through this infiltration, cybercriminals potentially accessed and acquired files containing the sensitive personal information of 55,155 individuals.
“As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly sensitive information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity theft.”
The firm has advised those who believe their personal information has been compromised to reach out on its website.
Clients affected by the breach can join a class action lawsuit through the website as well.
