Pace-O-Matic’s Pennsylvania Skill commends the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) for reporting a record casino industry revenue for July 2024, with Pennsylvania Skill spokesman Mike Barley also commenting on the state of skill game regulations.
“We again applaud the casino industry as it continues to break revenue records,” Barley said.
“These numbers prove once again that skill games are not a threat to casino profits.”
The casino industry revenue of $500.8m for July 2024 is a 7.2% increase from the prior year period. One of the highlights of the PGCB July revenue report is that iGaming slot revenue increased by 32.2%. The revenue comes from slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs).
Barley added that despite “research that shows no competition exists between skill games and casinos,” some properties are still spending money in an effort to fight against the regulation of skill games.
“Sadly, $500.8m a month in revenue is not enough to satisfy the greedy owners of the casino industry,” Barley said.
“Instead, they spend their time and money fabricating untrue accusations about skill games and trying to harm small business owners, veterans and volunteer organizations who count on legal skill games for critical revenue.”
In June of 2023, Judge Jonathan Mark of Pennsylvania’s Monroe County Court of Common Pleas ruled that Pennsylvania Skill games are officially, “games of skill and not chance.” In 2022, the company’s games had been seized by the Monroe Court District Attorney’s office and the Bureau of Liquor Control and Enforcement (BLCE).
