Coljuegos issues keno regulation in Colombia

Keno could generate a significant amount for healthcare during the next five years.
Coljuegos’ Board of Directors has issued Agreement 07, which outlines regulatory practices for keno throughout Colombia.
The regulator said that it expects close to CP$485m (US$0.12m) (or CP$485bn, as sources state conflicting numbers) to be transferred during the next five years for healthcare. Analysts have predicted that keno throughout the region could yield more than $2.8bn during the next five years.
Operators would pay Coljuegos for exploitation rights, which would range between 15% and 17%. Local operators would also pay 1% for administration expenses.
Coljuegos President Marco Emilio Hincapié commented, “Keno is an ancient Chinese game that has been operating illegally in Colombia. However, with the issuance of this regulation, now these resources will enter the State to finance the subsidized regime.
“To guarantee transparency in the process and the plurality of bidders, the Board of Directors of Coljuegos has left open the possibility that there are one or more Keno operators in one or more regions of the national territory. We hope that, in the coming months, this game can already be offered to players.”
Coljuegos serves Colombia as its regulatory body for games of luck and chance.
The organization maintains a philosophy of fostering growth within the industry through sustainable methods. Several notable sites, including Betplay, Rushbet and Codere, follow Coljuegos’ regulations.
The Management Against Illegal Operations of Coljuegos recently opened a substantial number of investigations into illegal gambling operations throughout the country.
The regulator recently opened 681 administrative sanctioning processes throughout the region that involve raffle, novel, localized and promotional games “that allegedly would be operating without a concession contract and that, therefore, would be ceasing to transfer resources for health.”
