Camrose Casino submits another bid to relocate
The AGLC is allowing public feedback on the new proposal.
The Camrose Casino has submitted another application to move its rural casino to south Edmonton, according to a CTV News Edmonton local report.
However, Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) has opened the floor for public feedback on the casino proposal.
The regulator attributed its move to accept public feedback to significant changes between the first and second applications.
The group said in a statement to local news, “Aspects of this application are different from the previous one, including ownership and the proposed games on site.
“As this is a significantly different proposal, AGLC has deemed it appropriate to move to step two for consideration and community support.”
What has not changed from application to the next is a proviso that would allow the casino to keep its rural license following the move. This would give rural charities access to charitable income that would come from the casino.
The company was previously denied its bid last year to relocate. The Camrose Casino wants to relocate its facility to 420 Parsons Road, the local report said.
After the AGLC denied the previous application, the company submitted another pitch, which outlined plans for an 88,000 square-foot venue that would be home to 498 slot machines and 25 table games.
Several concerns were raised regarding the former proposal, including the effect its location would have on local traffic and over “the potential loss of charitable revenue.”
Camrose Casino currently offers players a variety of slots, VLTs and table games. Players have access seven days a week to Classic Blackjack, Roulette, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em 7.
