Kansas June casino revenue reaches $33m

The state of Kansas has posted its casino revenue for the month of June. Its four casinos brought in close to $33m in total revenue for last month.

Though June’s results reflected a year-on-year boost of nearly 2.5%, last month’s revenue fell by close to 9% when compared to May’s revenue.

Hollywood Casino led the pack last month with the highest revenue total. The casino brought in nearly $13.4m in revenue during June.

Kansas Star, Boot Hill and Kansas Cross followed the leader and rake in respectively revenues of $12.8m, $3.6m and $3m.

However, all four casinos reported dips in activity when compared to revenue results from May. Kansas Crossing Casino reported the largest decline in revenue last month, down 14% month-to-month.

March still reigns as the highest revenue month for Kansas casinos this year. During March, revenue reached more than $38m.

The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission recently approved licensing for a Park City historic III gaming venue. Kansas passed a bill in 2022 to pave the way for both historic horseracing and sports betting. Senate Bill 84 outlines specific requirements, including allowing one facility in Sedgwick County.

While land-based casinos are legal throughout the state, Kansas has yet to legalize iGaming. Sports betting has been legal in Kansas’ four casinos since 2022. However, historic horseracing (HHR) facilities are currently prohibited from having sportsbooks on site but can partner with mobile app providers to offer players online sports betting.

So far this year, Kansas’ sports betting handle has reached $2.22bn. Operators have reported a year-to-date revenue of more than $107m.
