Kansas casinos see year-over-year gaming revenue increases for May

Currently, only Hollywood Casino and Resort has reported higher YTD revenue totals when compared to 2023.
The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission has released the gaming revenue figures for multiple casino and resort properties across the state. Reported gaming revenue totals were mainly split between electronic gaming machine figures and table games.
The Boot Hill Casino and Resort reported a gaming revenue total of $4.06m for May 2024, an increase from the $3.9m figure the resort reported for May 2023. The property is still looking to mirror its year-to-date (YTD) revenue total from 2023, as the $43.6m Boot Hill Casino and Resort has reported so far for 2024 represents a 2% decrease from the YTD total it reported in May 2023.
Kansas Star Casino and Resort has also reported an increase in comparable gaming revenue figures, seeing a 10.2% increase in gaming revenue from the $12.7m total it reported for May 2023. $11.5m of the gaming revenue for May 2024 came from electronic gaming machines, while just under $2.5m was reported from table games. The property also continues to attempt to match its YTD figures from 2023, as the property reported a YTD gaming revenue of $146.9m for 2024, compared to the $148.7m it had made by May 2023.
Hollywood Casino and Resort represents the only property to report a higher YTD gaming revenue figure when compared to May 2023, as the property has currently generated $148.7m so far for 2024. This represents a 3.4% increase from the YTD total it reported in May 2023. Hollywood Casino and Resort generated just under $14.5m for May 2024, as compared to the $12.5m it reported for May 2023.
Finally, the last property to report gaming revenue figures for May 2024 was Kansas Crossing Casino and Resort. The property completed a sweep of increases in gaming revenue from the comparable period. The $3.5m generated in May 2024 comes in a shade higher than the $3.4m figure reported for May 2023. The YTD gaming revenue, however, has also yet to match its 2023 figure from the comparable period. In 2024, the property has generated $35.8m in gaming revenue compared to the $38m generated by May 2023.
Gaming revenue from properties in Kansas is shared with the state (22%), the local areas of the properties (3%) and the problem gaming share (2%).
