El Cortez Hotel & Casino plans $20m expansion
The expansion is being led by McCarthy Building Companies, Ike Gaming, Jive Architecture and Kenneth Ussenko Design.
The El Cortez Hotel & Casino has announced plans for improvements to its casino floor, including the additions of two new bars, a high limit lounge and new restaurant. The property-wide expansion of the hotel that has been set in downtown Las Vegas since 1941 will cost $20m.
“We are thrilled to unveil our latest expansion project, which represents a significant milestone for El Cortez and the community of downtown Vegas,” El Cortez Hotel & Casino Chairman and CEO Kenny Epstein said.
“These enhancements arrive at a pivotal moment of heightened demand from both locals and visitors to Fremont Street. We are excited to continue to elevate the guest experience with these additions, ensuring every visit is filled with comfort, convenience and timeless hospitality.”
The project will include expanding the casino by 10,000 sq ft and renovating 4,000 sq ft of the existing casino floor. The new high limit lounge will offer guests a space away from heavy casino traffic in an attempt to provide an enhanced gaming experience. As part of the expansion as well, construction on two new bars including a roulette bar and show bar is set to begin.

The new expansion plans were announced not long after the property’s $30m renovation to the original 47 rooms, Tower Premium rooms and casino-floor bathrooms in recent years.
