Soft2Bet has received a Certification of Registration from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). The certification sees the provider move closer to launching its iGaming brand, Tooniebet.com, in the province.
Ontario is currently the only Canadian province to offer legal and regulated iGaming, launching in April 2022. In its Q3 2023 report, it was revealed the province now hosts 49 operators and 72 gaming sites, with CA$17.2bn (US$12.75bn) wagered in the quarter for total iGaming revenue of CA$658m.
Since the launch, many companies have come to Ontario, with some this year including Peter & Sons via SkillOnNet, LuckyCasino and Stakelogic in partnership with Rootz. In an exclusive interview with Gaming America magazine Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) President & CEO Paul Burns described the current market as “highly competitive with that number of sites and operators in the marketplace. I wouldn't say it's crowded, but it's comfortably cozy.”
This is not the only launch recently undertaken by Soft2Bet, however. In 2023 the provider launched in areas such as Greece and Romania (a market we covered in a recent issue of Trafficology) among others.
On its Ontario certification, Soft2Bet Head of Regulatory Elisabeth Isaksson said: “Being registered with the AGCO in Ontario is a testament to the work our compliance and regulatory teams are doing daily to enable our continued expansion in the world’s largest regulated markets. We’re immensely excited about taking our first steps in North America and look forward to licensing and launching in more jurisdictions in the region.”
Soft2Bet Chief Business Development Officer Martin Collins added: “This Ontario certification is another significant and important step in our corporate expansion plans. It fits perfectly with our stated aim of growing our regulatory footprint and we very much look forward to continuing forward on this path.”
