North Carolina regulator grants Sportradar supplier license

The state is scheduled to open its sports betting market March 11.

The North Carolina State Lottery Commission has issued a supplier license to Sportradar’s US betting subsidiary, Sportradar Solutions. The company’s license will remain valid for the next five years.

This brings Sportradar’s North American license count to 56. The company currently provides its products in the US and Canada, as well as to Tribes throughout the North American region.

The State Lottery Commission also recently issued sports wagering operators licenses to eight operators in anticipation of the market’s debut. Approved licensees include FanDuel Sportsbook, BetMGM, DraftKings, Fanatic Sportsbook, bet365, ESPN Bet, Underdog Sports Wagering and Tribal Casino Gaming Enterprise, which is an enterprise of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Under the current regulations, the Lottery Commission is allowed to award up to 12 interactive sports wagering operator licenses statewide once the market is established. Players would then have access to online and mobile betting, as well as in-person wagering.

North Carolina is the 38th state to welcome legalized sports wagering since the US Supreme Court overturned PASPA in 2018. Its sports betting market will go live March 11.

The state will initially allow players to place wagers on their mobile devices and will later accept in-person betting on a case-by-case basis.

Sportradar’s reach extends throughout North America, including several US states, as well as territory in Canada. The company has also expanded into the regions of South America and Latin America.

The company provides its services “to a wide range of clients operating within these jurisdictions, advancing transparency and integrity, and delivering accurate sports data to sanctioned sports betting and gaming agencies.”
