Nevada casinos win $823m in October; sports betting handle sets new record
Nevada casino earned $823m of revenue in October, a slight improvement from the prior month but still down 20% year-on-year.
In September casinos brought in $821m, a decline of 22%.
Clark County casinos saw win grow to $672m for the month, a 24% y-o-y decline but up $5m from September.
Las Vegas Strip won $376m, down 30%. Though the Strip is still underperforming, y-o-y percentage decline improved greatly from September, when win fell 39% to $355m.
Downtown Las Vegas was down 23% to $58m.
Washoe County, home of Reno, fared better than its southern Nevada counterparts with win of $78m for a 6% y-o-y improvement.
Across the state, most table and card games were down double digits but baccarat netted a 5% y-o-y improvement with win of $59m.
Sportsbooks set a new handle record of $660m in October, smashing the previous high of $615m. Handle was up 22% from a year ago but sports betting revenue fell 12% to $42m.
Mobile accounted for 57%, or $337m, of all sports wagers. Hold was 6.43%, down 8.81% a year ago.
Football accounted for $441m of the monthly handle. The gridiron gave sportsbooks $33m in win for a hold of 7.39%. That’s a three percent jump from last October.
