Rhode Island October sports betting revenue down to $4.5m

There was, however, an improvement on September’s numbers.
Rhode Island has published its sports betting numbers for October of this year, showing a year-over-year decrease of 26.2% from the same period in 2022.
Compared to September 2023, however, the figure of $4.5m does represent an increase of 30.9% and is the largest figure for sports revenue in the state since January 2023, when $5.2m was made in revenue.
The total bet during October 2023 was $45.8m, which was down from the $55.5m that was bet during the same period last year. Online sports betting accounted for around 79.3% of the total bet by players in the Ocean State on sports betting during the month.
In total, $41.3m was paid out during October of this year to players participating in sports betting in Rhode Island, the highest payout total since January 2023, when a total of $57.2m was paid out to players for sports betting in the state.
Looking closer at the numbers, for Rhode Island’s two casinos, both operated by Bally’s, Twin River took the higher revenue from the two, recording $584,987 in total sports betting revenue, compared to the $250,289 recorded in total sports betting revenue by Tiverton Casino.
Total revenue from July 2023 to October 2023 for sports betting was $11.3m, for the fiscal year 2024.
In other financial news, Iowa’s gaming revenue is down and it has been stated that Nebraska’s three new casinos have been affecting those numbers, especially between July and October 2023.
