MGM Rewards app still affected by recent cyber attack

The company experienced a security breach earlier this month.

In the aftermath of a cyber attack on MGM Resorts International, the operator’s rewards app continues to experience technical difficulties, according to a local report in the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Several features on the MGM Rewards app are currently not available to its users.

Two weeks ago, the cyber attack on the company shut down some of its computer systems and affected its operations nationwide. According to the company’s website, certain promotional offers from the rewards program remain unavailable.

The company said on its website, “We appreciate your patience as we work to restore certain website and mobile app functionalities, including accessibility to your MGM Rewards account, mobile check-in and check-out, and digital keys.

“Please note that certain promotional offers may be unavailable. MGM Rewards members’ accounts will be adjusted to reflect Tier Credits and MGM Rewards points at a later date.”

However, rewards customers are able to check their loyalty program rewards and points and can also check in and out of hotels, receive digital keys for their reservations. Guests can continue making restaurant reservations, can book spa and hotel visits, and can view entertainment options through the app.

In a recently released report from the company’s foundation reported awarding a total of $2.7m in grants to 107 non-profits in areas close to MGM Resorts destinations.

The grants came from MGM’s Community Grant Fund, which aids non-profits in providing valuable community services that include food security, K-12 education, family services, affordable housing, economic opportunities and workplace development.

The foundation is largely supported by MGM Resorts employees through their donations to the Community Grand Fund every year. MGM said the Community Grant Councils and committees comprised of employee volunteers determine which organizations are eligible to receive the grants.
