Pennsyvlania: The Cordish Companies, Live! Casino and local leaders celebrate $21m grant distribution
The funds were allocated to local municipalities and non-profit organizations in Westmoreland County.
The Cordish Companies and Live! Casino Pittsburgh have released details regarding close to $21m of local share account (LSA) grants that were distributed to Westmoreland County’s non-profit organizations and municipalities. The county has been home to Live! Casino for nearly three years.
The grant money has helped several community organizations that include the police and fire departments, as well as funded public spaces like parks and playgrounds. Funds were also directed toward aiding non-profit projects, bridge construction and road resurfacing.
State, county and township representatives and leaders met to celebrate with Westmoreland County grant recipients. Pennsylvania Senator Kim Ward discussed the significance of the occasion.
“Today’s event signifies the importance of casinos and their far-reaching tax benefits and overall economic impact,” Ward said. “Live! Casino has been a genuine community partner and I appreciate their continued commitment and contributions to Westmoreland County and its residents.”
The Cordish Companies Managing Partner, and CEO of Gaming, Joe Weinberg said helping local communities to flourish is an important value for the company.
He commented, “Nothing makes The Cordish Companies prouder than playing an important role in supporting and enhancing the communities in our area.
“We appreciate our team members, the elected officials and local organizations for their leadership and commitment to building a stronger Westmoreland County through our continued partnership.”
Live! Casino General Manager Sean Sullivan agreed with Weinberg’s sentiments and added that part of supporting local communities includes providing aid and resources to its families.
Sullivan concluded by saying, “Making a positive impact on our entire community has always been a priority for Live! Casino.
“While today’s celebration of these grants is a significant investment, we also remain committed to the community by supporting local families with employment opportunities and to local charities through volunteering and donations.”
