Missouri posts $134m slot handle for February
Its 13 casinos brought in monthly AGR of $145.8m.
The Missouri Gaming Commission has released its gaming financial report for the month of February. The state’s 13 riverboat gaming casinos raked in a combined total of $145.8m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) during the month.
Overall casino revenue in February fell by 8% when compared to the previous month.
Among Missouri’s heavy hitters was Ameristar SC, which slid into the top spot and brought in an AGR of $23.2m. River City followed close behind with more than $19.4m in AGR. Hollywood grabbed the number three spot by generating $17.6m in AGR in February.
Missouri’s casinos brought in $21.8m in table games winnings in February, an increase of more than $2m year-over-year.
However, the state saw the largest earnings in slot games revenue. During the month of February, Missouri’s 13 casinos raked in a combined slot handle of more than $134m, reflecting a year-over-year boost of 7%.
Since the Supreme Court overturned PASPA in 2018, online gambling is currently available in more than 35 states, with 18 of those allowing for legal online sports wagering.
Though the state is not yet listed among those currently offering legal sports betting, Missouri continues to discuss the possibility of a statewide regulated market. Several bills met the eyes of legislators last year. However, none of those bills moved beyond the House.
However, sports betting advocates like Representatives Dan Houx and Phil Christofanelli have confirmed that they will push for legalized sports betting during 2023. According to PlayMissouri analysts, the opening of Kansas’ market last year has and continues to serve as motivation for Missouri to follow in its neighbor’s footsteps.
