Internet Vikings expands into New York and Mississippi
The iGaming host provider diversifies its portfolio to include more of the growing US sports betting market.
Since New York’s launch of legal online sports betting in January 2022, Internet Vikings’ Founder and CEO, Rickard Vikström, has prioritized expanding the company’s services to the Empire State – and that has now become a reality.
With the third-largest GDP in the country, and internationally renowned teams like the Yankees, New York garnered a betting handle of over $15bn before the end of December 2022.
Vikström said of the company’s launch in New York, “It was paramount to Internet Vikings to extend its offerings to the Big Apple. However, it exceeded my expectations.”
Internet Vikings only recently expanded its services to Mississippi as well, though Magnolia State residents have been taking part in online sports betting since 2018. According to Vikström, Internet Vikings prioritized states with higher demand until now.
Vikström also commented, “Having fulfilled the requests of our clients in these markets, we have since shifted our focus to exploring new opportunities.”
Kristoffer Ottosson, COO of Internet Vikings, added, “Our presence in every destination that represents interest to all industry-related businesses is of great importance, to ensure that our clients, old and new, are able to continue their growth without any delays or interruptions.”
Vikström expanded on Ottosson’s statement, revealing that the company has already witnessed interest in this relatively new market since its operations commenced in New York in early fall 2022.
He said, “We look forward to the day when New York embraces other forms of iGaming. As for now, Internet Vikings will concentrate on newly launched markets such as Ohio and Massachusetts.”
