Maryland casinos post $163.4m in November gaming revenue
Overall gaming revenue was slightly higher than figures from last year.
Maryland Lottery & Gaming has published its casino results for the month of November. The state’s six casinos collectively brought in more than $163.4m in combined slot and gaming revenue, according to the report.
Maryland Lottery & Gaming officials told LocalToday that the total reflects a 1.9% boost when compared to numbers from November 2021.
Casinos contributed a total of $63.7m to the state out of their gaming revenue during the month, representing more than a $500,000 increase from the year before.
MGM National Harbor, Live! Anne Arundel County Casino & Hotel, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, Ocean Downs Casino, Hollywood Casino Perryville and Rocky Gap Casino Resort represent the state’s six privately owned casinos. The locations offer players access to both slot machines and table games.
All six casinos gave a total of $49.3m to Maryland’s Education Trust Fund, nearly $400,000 more than they did a year ago. Gaming revenue from Maryland’s casinos is used to support local communities, as well as the state’s horseracing industry and small minority and women-owned businesses.
In other state news, Maryland’s Sports Wagering Application Review Commission recently established some concrete dates for license issuance in anticipation of the launch of online regulated sports betting.
The state voted to legalize sports betting two years ago. In-person sports betting in Maryland has been live since last December. However, the process to launch Maryland’s online sports betting market has been met with delays while parameters have been put in place.
