Nevada governor to extend state’s stay-at-home orders

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak said in an interview that he would extend the state’s stay-at-home orders, likely delaying when casinos can reopen.
Sisolak told ABC’s Amy Robach that while the number of COVID-19 cases in the state had plateaued, he has not seen enough of a downward trajectory to lift the orders.
Sisolak said the state would begin to loosen its restrictions in phases.
“I’m in regular contact with the resort operators,” Sisolak said. “It’s not something as simple as flipping a switch and suddenly everybody is going to come back to Las Vegas.
“We’ve got to work on the traveling part of this. That’s one of the reasons we joined with the other states that’s getting people to come here. The casino and the gaming enterprises will probably come in the third or the fourth phase of what we’re doing here because we’re just not ready yet to handle that type of a volume.”
Some Vegas Strip casinos are accepting reservations for as early as 15 May, while others plan to take in guests beginning Memorial Day Weekend.
