Detroit casinos announce $122.9m in revenue for March

Included in the report is revenue generated from table games and slots, along with retail sports betting.
Three Detroit casinos have released the revenue numbers for the month of March. In total, the casinos reported $122.86m in monthly aggregate revenue. Most of the earnings are from table games and slots.
The table games and slots generated $120.93m in revenue, and retail sports betting produced $1.93m in revenue. The market shares for the casinos were also released: MGM at 46%, MotorCity at 33%, and Greektown at 21%.
The numbers are an improvement over March of 2021 when the casinos brought in $113.84m while operating at limited capacity due to COVID-19 health concerns. Monthly table games and slots revenue rose 9.1% compared with March 2021 results. March monthly revenue was up 26.5% compared with February results.
MotorCity fell by 6.5% in monthly gaming revenue, falling to $39.29m, but Greektown and MGM rose. MGM went to $55.92m, going up by 29.4% while Greektown went up 0.4% to $25.72m.
In terms of taxes, the three casinos paid the State of Michigan $9.8m in taxes during the month of March. During the first quarter, table games and slots revenue was 11% higher than the first quarter of 2021.
Retail sports betting adjusted gross receipts for March fell $1.04m when compared with March of 2021. MGM pulled in $545,346, MotorCity brought in $718,442, and Greektown totaled $664,550.
During February, fantasy contest operators reported total adjusted revenues of $762,104 and paid taxes of $64,017.
Fantasy contest operators reported aggregate fantasy contest adjusted revenues of $2.5m and paid the state $208,001 in taxes through February.
