Illinois casinos generate $119.1m in revenue during March
The state has seen a boost in casino activity since the first month of the year.
The Illinois Gaming Board has published its casino revenue results for March. The state’s overall handle been rising steadily since the beginning of the year.
The total casino handle for the month of March reached $119.1m, an increase of almost $26m from February’s handle and an increase of more than $30m since January.
Out of the state’s 11 casinos, the top three spots for the highest revenue generated went to Rivers Casino, Grand Victoria Casino and Harrah’s Joliet Casino & Hotel, with total revenues reaching $44.1m, $14.2m and $12.7m respectively.
Rivers Casino also dominated the month with the largest amount of revenue coming from table games, which climbed to more than $16m during March.
Grand Victoria Casino and Harrah’s Joliet Casino & Hotel grabbed the number two and three spots. Grand Victoria brought in almost $3.2m from table games, and Harrah’s Joliet Casino & Hotel generated a table games revenue of close to $2.5m.
Total table games revenue statewide reached almost $29m last month, beating out February’s amount of $21.6m.
Electronic gaming device (EGD) play also reflected a boost during March. Overall EGD revenue climbed to more than $90m, compared to the $72m generated during the month of February.
Rivers Casino, Grand Victoria and Harrah’s Joliet Casino & Hotel slid into the top three places for individual casino EGD revenue as well, yielding $28m, $11m and $10.2m respectively.
The state’s casino paid out a total of almost $24.3m in state and local taxes. A breakdown of the reported reflected a payment of $17.7m in state taxes and a payment of close to $6.8m in local taxes.
